I am originally from Kansas, like Christopher, but am now studying philosophy at a private, Catholic university. If you read my profile you are likely to think that I’m not all that conservative, yet I am almost always labeled one after a face-to-face conversation. I consider myself to be a conservative, yet I think that the current labels need to be re-defined.

JFK was a hack, and I detest few things more than the notion that one can be “a candidate who happens to be Catholic.” Your faith or philosophy of life is what defines your politics, and the people who reverse this truth will say anything they think will get them elected. I am SICK of popularity contest elections and I yearn for the day when a real person can run for office in this country. How can we get there? I’d like you to help us find out. I believe:

  • A human being is always an end, never a means.
  • Government should be big enough to keep the peace but small enough to let us enjoy it.
  • “It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.” Mother Teresa
  • Marriage between a man and a woman is of vital importance to the state because it is in the state’s best interest to raise up children from inside the system it has created. It is not unreasonable to expect native-born citizens to understand more thoroughly the project their native land has undertaken…That being said, it would do you well to recall that unless you’re an Indian, you should have sympathy for immigrants.
  • “Assuming that the guilty party’s identity and responsibility have been fully determined, the traditional teaching of the Church does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the only way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor. If, however, non-lethal means are sufficient to defend and protect people’s safety…authority will limit itself to such means…” CCC 2267

I, too, was going to vote for Brownback. I am now considering following Sam’s endorsement of McCain, but for now the jury’s still out. But…TANK, Rudy, TANK!

On the Political Compass I score:
Economic: -3.75
Social: -0.92
