Greetings! Welcome to my website. ConservativePolitics.org was conceived and created after years of amateur blogging and volunteerism in politics. I wanted a site that was dedicated to the principles I find most important in politics. I've seen many -- in fact, the huge majority of -- weblogs that are written by a single author from a very narrow or a very generic background.  Single-issue (single-ideology) advocacy is just as common in my view as is lukewarm analysis and commentary.  I wanted a site that draws from a variety of different ideologies or issue beliefs, not all of them conservative principles, but brings those individuals together and lets them discuss, analyze, debate, and (hopefully) come to new or at least agreeable solutions.

There are no off-limits topics here, because I believe there is no sense in limiting our discourse. Radical solutions should be proposed; inertia is the greatest enemy of change in politics, and our mammoth, behemoth bureaucracy is in desperate need of change.

I doubt you're interested in me personally, but since you're reading my profile I suppose it's not out of the question. I currently reside in northeast Kansas, and graduated college magna cum laude with degrees in Business Marketing and Economics. In my life I've held a number of jobs; I was a disc jockey, a RadioShack geek, a sales rep for a global internet company doing search engine marketing, and I had a gig at a TV station in media advertising.  Right now, I've got a job in marketing for a company that manufactures automotive products.  Oh yeah, I just turned 23.

During my university years I was President of the College Republicans, have been to Young America's Foundation's National Conservative Student Conference, as well as the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and volunteer actively at the state level for the Republican party. My loyalties lie with my beliefs, though, not to my party; I am first and foremost a devout Christian, secondly a conservative, third, an American, and fourth, a Republican. I believe:

  • The freer the market, the freer the people.
  • War is a last resort, but like all last resorts, it sometimes comes to that. When there are no alternatives we can believe will be reasonably effective in ending a serious, immediate threat, war must happen.
  • "Live free or die. Death is not the worst of evils." -General John Stark
  • Abortion is immoral and not a right. You cannot give ownership of life over to another human being, much less be given the right to choose whether to end that life.
  • The death penalty is an abhorrent practice for much the same reasons. Its Constitutionality aside, I am against using it in all situations.
  • Marriage is between one man and one woman.
  • Repeal the 16th Amendment, abolish the income tax, and implement a FairTax.

In case you're wondering, I was voting for Sam Brownback for President in 2008 until he dropped out (and not just because he's a fellow Kansan). At this point there is no candidate I support, and will not vote for someone I don't support simply to keep out someone who may be "worse."

On the Political Compass I score
Economic +8.38
Social +1.79

Any other questions regarding my political views that I haven't expounded on in articles for the site, you're welcome to email and ask.  You can reach me via cmowder at Gmail.

Stay classy.
